For the G8 Summit at Toyako in Hokkaido, held in July 2008, KENWOOD's NEXEDGE was selected to provide group-call communications for Japan's Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Ministry officials wanted to link three sites – New Chitose Airport, the International Media Centre, and the Summit venue – while facilitating radio-to-radio communications within each area.
